Is it a myth that long term relationships are bound to work?
I have been dating a guy since 3 years now but i feel it has become toxic. I think i am losing myself for someone who doesnt care about me. If i breakup i will be left all alone but if I dont then i will lose myself. I am young and I believe right love will come along the way but is it foolish of me to wait for the right man and lose my boyfriend?

If you are unhappy with BF leave... it is not worth it just as a fill in. Do you think it is better then being alone .. that is not a strong selling point for the relationship. Many long term items are held together that way both not happy but not wanting to be alone.... it is like going to a toxic job but refusing to apply for anything better.
If you leave and build on yourself the chance of finding a better partner will increase.

I don't know what could be the source of the myth you are referring to, but answering this question from my experience, the reply is "no".
I believe relationships do not automatically start to work better with time, but it depends on the efforts you both made and the very unique nature of your relationship.
In my view relationships strongly based on physical attraction tend to fade as years are passing by. Those based on friendship, care, respect and common values or passions can grow with time.
Add routine, boredom, predictability... When you know what your partner is going to say before they open their mouth - some people see it as sweet, but for some it might be annoying.
What would you think about revising the other myth: that some loneliness would instantly destroy you?
I think it's great to have someone that you share your everyday life with. But being happy alone is also not just a fairy tale 😊
And love is an emotional matter, so maybe believing your gut feeling and following your own truth could work much better than logical calculations?
