I think I am finally able to move on from her
I've spent the last eight years imagining a relationship with a woman I never approached because I didn't see myself as relationship material. Instead, I focused on improving myself, academically, career wise, and personally, working through anxiety, low self esteem, and struggles with excessive porn and masturbation.
A few days ago, I found out she's in a relationship. Since then, I've barely smiled or moved from my bed. The past few days have been brutal.
But right now, at this very moment, I feel like I’m finally starting to move on. The pain is still there, but it's not as overwhelming. Is this normal? I’ve heard it takes months to get over someone, but maybe it’s different since we were never actually together. It was always a one sided romance, something that existed only in my head, so maybe that makes it easier to let go.
I don’t know much about heartbreak, but I do know these last few days were some of the hardest I’ve ever experienced. And yet, right now, the pain feels lighter.
The only thing that still bothers me is the thought that she’ll never know just how deeply I felt for her.
One more thing to add. I guess the pain is not so much overwhelming because I’ve somewhat stepped away from social media since yesterday, avoiding her posts and stories with her boyfriend. That might have helped more than I realized.
I mean I don't know. I hope it's not just a one time thing where I feel good for a moment then go back to being depressed again.

I think stepping away from social media is a good move. It sounds like you’ve really worked on yourself, and that’s something to be really proud of.
