I want to break up with my boyfriend
My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 months, yet throughout those eight months, I feel my love for him slowly fade away. He is caring and worries for my well-being, which I love, but I don’t think he loves me as a genuine person with interest. Whenever we hang out, it’s always cuddle based. Everywhere we go, he always has to have his hands on me. Hugging and kisses me, leaning against me, and everything. I wouldn’t mind this, if I felt an actual connection between us, but whenever we cuddle, or sit down, or do anything intimate, we never talk.
We don’t share the same interests and I feel like I’ve given up. We’re always in silence, our conversation just consist of “how was your day?” And we talk about how our days have been and how each class goes. During the talking stage of our relationship, I was really passionate about talking and forming a relationship with me. But he would never reciprocate, always answering with one sentence replies while I type paragraphs of my hobbies and likes. It was so obvious that he got my number only to ask me out, and I wish we could’ve at least been friends first, had a deeper connection so we don’t struggle with this further into our relationship.
I feel like he wants companionship and support, with giving me a connection. One of our hangouts, we decided to limit the cuddles, and genuinely talk and play games. He was leaning onto me the whole time, which I don’t mind, but it made me wonder what if, for one hangout, I decided in no cuddles. Next hangout I’m going to do that. I know physical touch is his love language, but I want to be able to have easy conversations with him about movies, without him trying to stuff his face into mine. I wanna be able to laugh until I can’t breathe about a joke of his. I wanna find the friendship in our relationship.
@helpfulCake71 thank you for sharing this with the community, Cake!
i hear you. wanting to form an emotional connection through conversation, outside the touching part, is indeed a very valid thing of you to want. your partner shouldn’t only be your boyfriend, but also your best friend. finding the friendship in the relationship is one of the most important things to do in a relationship. i am hoping to hear back from you about this. <3
@helpfulCake71 feel free to message me about it!!
