Marriage Advise Needed

I apologize if this ends up being long but its difficult to explain and I need some outside perspective.

Over the last handful of years, I've found myself under constant criticism from my wife about not doing enough, being lazy, not having my priorities inline, not helping her enough etc. I never put much thought into it, other than just accepting what she is saying and working on myself to improve. I'll say there are defiantly days that I certainly am lazy, tired from work or just flat out don't feel like doing anything at all, but I feel like we all have those days.

I have finally hit a point where I have been doing some self reflecting, searching online and trying to figure out if this is all normal? The more and more I dig into things, the more I wonder if I'm in an emotionally abusive relationship and just never realized it.... At the same time, she makes a lot of what seem like good points during arguments but they just don't match how I feel inside and what I see. But maybe that's my problem, that I don't see all the things that she says about me. I have a good job, multiple degrees, worked hard to provide and allow us to have nice things in life. I don't "feel" like I'm lazy etc.. but maybe I am and just don't see it?

I've always tried to improve and meet her expectations but it just never feels like it's enough. It always seems she is just seeking for the next thing to criticize me about. Example, I do this dishes vacuum the house, and if I didn't get to laundry, she'll make sure to let me know. We don't have enough money to buy the new car or house she wants so I take another job for more money. I then get told I spend to much time working. This is something I go through daily. It's gotten to the point where I just feel defeated and run down.

I don't get to spend any time on hobbies or with friends and if I do, I know to be expecting a lecture on how my time could have been better spent doing something else. It has got to the point, I don't even have enjoyment in things anymore. Any accomplishments are or goals met with no support.

If I try and voice how I feel, she usually just responds with her day was hard to, how tired she is and that if I would be more "helpful", she wouldn't feel like this and need to speak to me the way she does. Everything anymore is met with a tone of anger and disappointment along with a response of how it is somehow my fault

I'm lost, feel like I'm going crazy and don't know what to do....

@Blank2443

many are in the same shoes ...... frankly of both of you....... while we want our partner to do things and find a small item that was missed as a bigger issue then it is .....we expect items to be done and do not give them the credit that yes some days we do not feel like doing anything either.

In my opinion (at least in my case) something is missing ........ not the fact they did not start the dishwasher or anything else ......... i feel i need to reflect from my heart .........and see that it is not about the little things or even a new car or house........ those are items some THINK will fill in the hole .........

i want something ....... and my partner is not providing it .............. so i think it is about chores or errands ........ it is just excuses .........cause i cannot put my finger on what exactly i am looking for ....... spouse will never do everything right to fix it cause it is in me...........
