Now ex-girlfriend didn’t respect boundaries
I was with my girlfriend for 2.5 years and we recently broke up. Since then I’ve been thinking a lot about how she treated me and I don’t know what to make of it. Friends and family noticed that she was very clingy/possessive of me, which I overlooked. In private she was also very clingy, and would frequently try to pin me down/restrain me (playfully) to prevent me from going to uni or work or to do something other than cuddle with her. It got annoying because it was every day and every time I tried to do anything, but I learnt to recognise it and try to avoid that happening. But this resulted in me always being the bad guy for not wanting physical affection, but I never got the chance to initiate because she ALWAYS did first.
Aside from that, she found it very funny to tickle me because I absolutely HATED being ticked. I did make this very clear to her and repeatedly told her how much I hate it and the tickling hurts. Again she would just ignore me and continue to do it to the point where I would be almost fighting her to get away and would crawl out of the bed and sit on the floor. Again trying to tell her to stop, and as soon as I’d get back into bed again she’d continue. It made me really upset because I felt so uncomfortable and like I couldn’t trust her, and it hurt. Also as part of the play fighting, she would sometimes hit/tickle my crotch out of nowhere which I didn’t like and even after I removed her hand, she’d do it again. Once again that made me uncomfortable and upset which I did tell her and my body language was always clear.
Basically it’s this among other things which have really made me question how well I was treated in the relationship, because she always said how much she loved me, then constantly did things that hurt me/made me uncomfortable. I’m just struggling to process this and want to get other opinions on what this was, I know she was a bit manipulative but I’m worried it may have been worse than that? I don’t know and I don’t really trust what I’m thinking so any advice/opinions/reassurance would be really appreciated, thanks.
@SageTurtle
I think you can trust what you are thinking .... she was totally out of line. I do not think anyone would have been that patient.
A person whom will NOT accept and quit doing that and respect your space has issues. It is not cute or funny and not something she could have expected you to " get use to" instead she may have found some weird pleasure in making your uncomfortable.
