Hi everyone! I’m new to this platform and I come seeking advice. I’m in my first healthy relationship of my life and I being a 27 year old non binary person and seeking advice about my 28 year old female partner. My partner is very busy sometimes and can not possibly give me every second of the day (who really could?) but she does try her best to communicate as much as possible. When I’m with her everything is so wonderful and amazing! But for some reason when she spends time with certain friends of hers, ones that are notorious for alcoholism and drug use, I tend to overthink and end up hurting my partner’s feelings or making them feel bad. My partner has been through a lot of those same

Welcome to the forum! It sounds like you're navigating some complex emotions in your new relationship, and it's great that you're seeking advice and support here.

It's understandable to feel a bit uneasy when your partner spends time with friends who have a history of alcoholism and drug use, especially when you cherish the time you have together. Trust and communication are key in any relationship, and it seems like your partner is making an effort to stay connected with you despite her busy schedule, which is a positive sign.

It's important to acknowledge your feelings of overthinking and the impact it might have on your partner. Sometimes our worries can stem from past experiences or fears, and addressing these thoughts in a supportive way can help strengthen your relationship.

Have you talked to your partner about how you feel when she spends time with these friends? Open communication about your concerns, while being mindful of her perspective, could help both of you understand each other better and find a way to navigate this together.

What do you think is the best way to approach this conversation with your partner?
