Painful abandonment

How do I help someone who pushed me away after coming home from being deployed, I tell myself it's from the trauma. Do I just give space? I love them. He was my boyfriend he stopped responding to me when he got home in September only read my messages and then eventually sent a hateful message randomly and blocked me on everything

Hi @SirenOfTheBrokenKind

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I understand you wanting to help your boyfriend adjust from being deployed, that's very kind of you. However, his blocking you and sending a hateful message tells me that he wants/needs the space, regardless of what the reasoning is. There's a saying that goes "you can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped". No matter how much you want to, it's likely you'll only be hurting yourself trying.

I hope the best for you,
