Relationship
I was in a relationship for six years and for the majority of that time, I was the only one paying the majority of the bills. I was also buying all the groceries. His excuse was he had no money because of all the bad decisions he made that left him in debt and at first I went along with it We lived together for five years and he left very suddenly a month ago. Moved everything out and told me he's toxic and has to straighten out his life. He's gone almost no contact, an occasional text to check in. I initially asked if we could get together to discuss the situation and he would not give a direct answer. I'm moving on with my life and not waiting around for him. Has anyone been through this before and have any insights or suggestions.
Hey @JPenny5992, Thank you so much for reaching out. I can hear how confusing this situation has been for you. Being with someone for six years, sharing a home, sharing responsibilities and then having them leave suddenly, can be shocking and hit on so many levels.
When you've spent years carrying most of the financial weight, it's understandable you'd feel confused, hurt and maybe even used (I don't want to put words in your mouth). You were showing up, supporting the life you built together, and now he's gone almost no-contact and calling himself 'toxic'. That's a lot to process.
I can hear how hard it was when he wouldn't give you a clear answer about talking things through. That kind of avoidance can leave you stuck in limbo, replaying everything and trying to make sense of it. It sounds like you've already made a strong step by deciding to move forward with your life instead of waiting around for him. That shows so much strength, even if it doesn't quite feel like it right now.
I'm sending you so many positive vibes as you navigate through this situation💜

I am glad you are moving on. Years into a relationship we tend to want to salvage it keep it going.
I think you were done with paying for bills and trying to act ok about it even if you had not come out and said it. sounds like he is not over making bad choices.
