Relationship issue

I connected with someone from twitter in July and we got talking then we become close . The friendship was going well though we don’t stay in the same country but we’re from the same tribe . We started the friendship with marriage in mind but then things started changing in our 3rd month of talking . I felt it was work related stress and I understood him but one day , he just texted me that he needed a break , I felt it was just a break but he said if I see anyone I want to marry I should that he doesn’t think he’s coming back to our country anytime soon. This was someone I was have video calls with and he felt the right way to end things with me was through text . I couldn’t take it like that so I confronted him and he was he knows he behaved like a "coward” in his words but he doesn’t want to call so we won’t dwell on it . I feel hurt that he ended things that way but we still follow each other on social media platforms and also with each other’s number. I don’t know what to do .
