Silent Attachment
I hate how my mind keeps drifting back to him even when I know exactly who he is in reality. He’s my attorney, married, with three kids and there’s nothing confusing about the situation, nothing “maybe” about it. And still, my feelings don’t always listen to logic. It’s frustrating because he didn’t even do anything wrong. He was just kind, attentive, and present when I needed someone to talk to. But my heart took that and built something bigger out of it anyway. Now I’m stuck carrying a feeling that has nowhere to go, nowhere it belongs, and no future it can realistically have. I don’t want anything from him. I just wish my emotions would stop attaching meaning to moments that were never meant to mean more. It feels like I’m grieving something that never even existed in the first place. I need to bury this feeling but no matter how hard I try, it won’t leave me alone.

I am sorry you are going thru this.
It happens to many who misread simple kindness or interest into something so much more. For each person getting over it is different. the good news is you recognize this and can address this better then some.
