I am and it's incredibly disrespectful to me that I and others have to deal with something so intense alone.
People on a disability designation and income, while the authority in their life, are paid 1/3 of outside "healthcare" sources.
I've been on my own since I was 15/16 and the institutions we have aren't enough and those in it overpaid and ineffective.
Police are called on people needing mental health help. And how many people have been shot or the situation worsened?
More energy need to be allocated to mental health programs and supports that are beyond the punitive, revolving and dominant system.
Everyone has an agenda and there's a common humanity connecting us all. But the fear is so much as to make life a nightmare.
And not to sound like a Nancy Meyer's movie, but something's gotta give. There needs to be more bold, peaceful and actual solutions.
Every cop, counsellor, doctor I've spoken with knows more can be done. But they refuse to do a thing about it. There's no accountability.
The disparate levels of men being violent, of women and children being blamed, ignored and used. It's not acceptable nor black or white.
People who are disabled don't have enough for the basics. There isn't enough to help them all. What is that if not an act of war?
There's things that aren't or don't feel safe and need time like a wound to breathe and heal and it's going to require a lot to make that happen.
