What Do You Learn From Relationships?

Hi Relationship Community,
I hope you are well! Relationships are important for us to thrive and flourish and being in positive and relationships that might not be so good for us teach us lessons in life. Can you share what you have learned from relationships? These lessons can be from romantic or those relationships shared with family and friends.

Almost from all relationships I've learned a lot of things. Sharing what comes to mind right now:
💛All relationships are different, and have their own challenges and happy moments!
💛People aren't perfect, so you cannot expect relationships to be perfect either.
💛You can love the person, and still find things you don't like about them, it doesn't make the love any less or the relationship as "bad", or you as "limiting"~ okay to have a difference of opinions on things.
💛The media often glorifies relationships, especially romantic ones, highlighting the fancy-ish part at times, having many of us set unrealistic expectations on ourselves and our partner(s), so needed to be mindful that what we see, hear from others is *their* thing, doesn't have to be the same for us.
💛Just having love for someone or loving them, won't guarantee a long-term happy relationship with them! Just love is not enough!
More than "love" or making someone feel loved, it's making someone feel respected and valued that works more in the longer term.
💛You shouldn't lose your individuality in your relationship. Relationships are 'part' of your life. You were/ are a *whole* person with or without any relationships you've ever been or will be in.
You are the cake, your relationships are merely the frosting and sprinkles!😛 They make the cake yummier, bring the best out. But the "cake" was, is and always will be *whole* without any of them as well. ❤
Might come back to share more hehe, I think there's always so much to learn about ourselves too, with each relationship we are in! Thanks for the prompt, Lisa! 🌻
Feel free to share your lessons as well!

What beautiful reflections as always and thank you for coming by! 🌻 I love the one about the cake too. So true and your reflections of what a relationship is including the limitations is very insightful. It's always so important to be genuine and authentic even if the media portrays relationship in a perfectionist light at times.
I think they teach you what joy is during your healthy relationships and let you see that you do not have to be alone in what you are going through and a supportive chat with a good friend/supportive partner can really make such a big difference to your well-being!
