do i need to distance myself from my friend?
i am 17. my best friend, who i met online and have known for years, is 14. in rhe past six months, we’ve gotten very close and call almost every day. they’ve helped me through hard things and i’ve helped them.
earlier today, my friend said that we were soulmates, that they wanted to kiss me. they’ve said before they want to move in with me when we grow up.
i have adhd and i have a hard time understanding my and other peoples feelings sometimes. i can’t tell the difference between platonic and romantic love. is my best friend in love with me? am i in love with them? if i am, or if they are, do i need to cut ties with them? my greatest fear is somehow taking advantage of them or their vulnerability. i would never ever do anything to hurt them and i know for sure i have no sexual interest in them. what do i do??? i’m so lost and afraid because i feel like this is the kind of thing some people get cancelled for. i have no nefarious intentions at all! i want the best for my friend and if that means cutting ties with them then i will.
tldr; i think my best friend, who is 14, is in love with me, who is 17. do i need to cut ties with them?
@apple3pie This is indeed a very embarrassing thing, because even if it is refused, it will hurt the relationship between you. I can only say that when he confess to you, I already think about everything, whether it is good or bad. He likes you just wants you to know his heart, not forcing what you do. After a long time, he knows the real you, and you will be attracted by you. I think you are very attractive and must be a very cute person. I don't think you need to be embarrassed. I suggest you tell him your difficulties and he will understand your choice.
