recovering from a breakup that was my fault

it's been 8 months since I broke up with this guy and I am getting dangerously close to asking him If he wants to try and get back together. but tbh it was my fault we broke up, I got depression and I was losing motivation to put effort into us. I could tell it was hurting him but I didn't know what to do. then one day we argued and I just kinda stopped talking to him then a week later I broke up with him. I feel like such a jerk and he was so perfect and now I lost him. i really want him back but I am afraid I will just do the same thing again and hurt him more. and I know he doesn't deserve that but I just miss him so much. I am afraid he hates me, and rightfully so, how do I forgive myself for doing this?

@awry

start with apologising and asking to be friends (he might of changed or your taste might of changed) you cant say its your fault when deppression was at fault i only wish i could follow the advice i give to others

@awry

When in the middle of a big depressive episode we sometimes make mistakes in judgement i quit a job i really liked and would be in a different position if i just kept it.

If you chose to talk to him and explain the depression and maybe even find ways for him to help you cope should it happen again...

my partner is awful just letting me suffer when in fact with more support from them i think I might have come out of this earlier.
