Apparently I'm in an argument...but no one told me

A few days ago I went to sleep. It was a normal day. It was a normal bedtime. It was a normal morning routine. The next day felt normal. But when my husband got home from work he apparently was mad at me. I guess. I don't know. We didn't see each other all day. We didn't talk to each other all day. We were both working.

But when he got home he barely said two words to me. Barely acknowledged my existence. So, apparently we're having an argument. Sure wish I knew what it was about. What could I have POSSIBLY done between the time I went to sleep until the time we woke up the next morning to make him so POed. Who knows?

He does this a lot. It's childish, I think. He'll get mad at me because I stop listening to him. But honestly, I've told him there are things that he cannot talk about with me. They trigger my anxiety. And he still goes off on them - sometimes for an hour or more. So yeah, after a while I have to stop for my own mental health.

But WTF happened this week? Who knows. He's giving me huge amounts of attitude. Any talk between us is short - answering basic questions. Yesterday we almost had a regular conversation, but I started it with a question that needed more than a one word answer. Maybe he feels justified playing this little game. "ha ha, you get to see how I feel."

I don't know. It's exhausting. I DON'T want to play the game. It's stupid. And frustrating. And honestly, part of me is just "fine - we talk, we don't talk. I still have to go about my life doing a bunch of stuff, going to work, taking care of the family, the house, etc." Because I'm so tired, so frazzled. I have so many things that are bothering me, that are causing me stress and health issues, and I just can't take on another one. I just want to be supported.

@thoughtfulmomma

It is a difficult to find balance when their approach involves all or nothing.
The "all" being going on for more than an hour about stuff that triggers your anxiety, where you then switch off ... the "nothing" being not communicating at all why he's mad.
Perhaps healthy boundaries can help the communication back to reasonable standards where you'd both feel safe and able to share.

We have a self help guide on boundaries

I hope it helps! Best wishes
