Bid for Connection Challenge

We are constantly sending each other bid for connection, regardless of the motivation.

  • Perhaps it's a stranger who made an effort to look up and smile at you?

  • Someone who took time to text/ call to ask how you're doing?

  • Someone who suddenly talks about random stuff, maybe?

  • Perhaps a listener or a member who reaches out and says hi?

Sometimes we are aware yet for some reasons we dismiss it. More often we're unaware and unintentionally dismiss that bid for connection.

  1. Can you recall anyone sent a bid for connection recently? How did you respond and why?

  2. Is it possible that a snap, an anger, a complaint or a withdrawal is a form of bid for connection? Why or why not?

  3. Challenge! A virtual social experiment: send a text to a random listener/ member just wishing them a good day/ evening or simply send a flower or heart. To random person that you have never interacted with before. If you took the challenge, how did it go?

@ouiCherie None and None

It can be possible that anger can be a bid. Anger is an emotion, so people express it in different ways.

@Happy900

That's so true Happy. Anger is part of our natural emotions and possibly a bid to feel more connected. πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ»

A teacher of mine after many years dropped a message after seeing my DP on WhatsApp. I was thrilled to hear from her and definitely did respond to her conversation. It feels nice to know that someone remembers you in some way.

Yes, a snap or a rude conversation can be another way to make a connection. Positive or negative, humans have a strong need to remain connected and more so these days when everyone is busy doing their own things that sometimes we need to stop and make efforts to strengthen our relationships.

@caringRainbow687

That's indeed nice and inspiring 😊 and your teacher's initiative resulted in reconnection.

The second part made sense. I guess negative action/ reaction is very possibly a bid of connection. Thank you, Rainbow πŸ’™

Tbh - I do this alot lol. Pop in on people's threads to say hey or drop a hug. It's nice to know you're in someone's thoughts - even if it's just online

That's indeed so nice, Soul... it warms the heart. And many times the feeling its created last.

Idk if you remember when you commented with something funny on one of my posts, we joked back and forth a bit, couldn't recall what was the topic, but since then I thought you're pretty cool πŸ˜€
