Cheating spouse

I recently found out that my husband of 10 years has been having an affair for the last year. He was with a woman from work a handful of times but sometimes this occurred in our own house while I was at work. I found out when someone texted a family member of mine thinking it was my number. When i confronted him he confessed. Even when i asked him about it I thought it was a scam and never believed it to be true. He explained to me that he’s been mentally “messed up” for a long time. He had cancer in 2019 and claims that ever since he was sick he hasn’t felt right mentally. I will admit that I am not the most sexually active person and have told him no a lot. He stated to me that he felt unwanted and sometimes the urge was so bad. He also told me that she was the one who kept approaching him about it and then he eventually gave in.

Im totally devastated but I don’t know what to do. We have 2 small kids and I have to stay strong for them. He seems to be very regretful of the situation. He has apologized several times. Things at home have been better than they have been in a long time. Am i stupid to give him another chance? I can’t help but blame myself for kind of pushing him away. It just makes me sick. I can’t talk to anyone I personally know cause I don’t want anyone knowing and thinking differently of him. I just need advice if I’m being stupid for letting him back in.

I can’t imagine what you must be feeling. It must have been very upsetting to find out. I hope you don’t feel you are part to blame. You not being that sexually active, does not give permission for infidelity. It’s thoughtful of you to think of your kids and wanting to be strong for them. Ultimately, it is your decision on how to move forward. We support you either way. 💛💫

Thats awful to hear. After being together with someone for so long it must’ve been heartbreaking to see what he did. I hope all the best for you and your kids.
