i just recently told a guy how i felt about him after several years. to my surprise he said he had feelings for me as well. now when i confessed these feelings to him i asked for his complete honesty when it comes to him having feelings for me or not. i told him that i did not want him to feel pressured or any of that bc him lying about it would obviously just make things worse for me. so once we talked things over he said “i have feelings for you 100%” now a few days later he doesn’t respond to my messages that fast. now i will not double text or any of that bc i don’t want to come across as clingy, but it’s like he doesn’t want to talk to me. i just don’t understand how we could go from admitting serious feelings for each other to talking infrequently. we agreed we wanted to see each other over the summer and facetime and such, but there has been no action backing that up on his end and so i’m just seriously confused on what that means. i don’t doubt his feelings for me bc i gave him several outs and asked for honesty, but i just don’t understand why there isn’t more constant communication

Yes, that's absolutely baffling behaviour for sure. But when in doubt - Look to their ACTIONS and not their PROMISES. Is it possible he is keeping you as an option? That is, he is not genuinely particularly interested in you, but since you suddenly confessed your feelings and became an option, it might have been convenient for him to agree to a relationship (for the time being) while not really making any effort to go out of his way to engage the relationship...?
That's the only explanation I can think of, unless he just panicked (somehow, despite you being very diplomatic and encouraging him to tell the truth) and told you out of guilt that he had feelings for you when he actually doesn't; and now is wondering why he even did that and how he can undo this?
