Confused and anxious about my relationship.
How do you know if a relationship isn't right for you? How do you make the decision to leave a relationship of 2 years when you live together and have cats together? I have multiple mental illnesses and it makes it hard to decipher what feelings mean and what is because of what. I can't tell whats depression, meds, anxiety, panic, unhappiness in my relationship. But I'm so unhappy and I know a lot of it is my mental illnesses but I feel inside its also the relationship, but I don’t know if thats accurate or just bleeding over from depression. (I am 30, she is 31)
I'm drowning in everything being too much, fears about commitment and making the wrong decisions, pressure of being someone's only partner, partner responsibilities, unsure about how similar/different is okay and how much is not. Just overwhelmed all the time.
@KindPear Talk to your partner, but don't break up. Do you have a counselor? Try talking to them. If you can afford couple's counseling, try to go with them. Communication is really key and take your partner for their word.
My ex had similar struggles, my partner broke up with me 24 hours after they mentioned seeing me in their future because of what I believe were similar reasons (they cited their anxiety getting out of control).
As the ex who was dumped and would have married them, I would give anything and everything to have had the chance to save our relationship.
