How do I feel fulfilled
How do I make my heart feel emotionally fulfilled when I tell my partner about how I’m feeling. I tell him what I’m feeling when I’m depressed, and he either A. Offers activities to do B. Sits there awkwardly and doesn’t say anything. I just feel like he’s not giving me the deep conversations that I want. I’ve been depressed for about a month now and he says that he’s “tired of walking on eggshells” around me. Everytime I bring up how I’m feeling now he just kind of exits and goes to his corner. Ok yes I’m having mood swings because I literally quit smoking nicotine after 2 years of smoking last month. I’m still cranky. But I think it’s uncovering something that was hidden by the nicotine addiction and it makes me sad that I can’t talk to him about it.
Each time I have a conversation with him it’s always light conversation. I don’t know why my heart doesn’t feel that *click* when you have a deep conversation that both people are invested in, you know? I just want more from him and he doesn’t have anything to give.
That sounds like a big struggle. Everyone deserves to have their feelings heard and validated. I wish I could offer you advice, but I feel it would fall short. I will be hoping for you that your partner hears what you are going through and what you have discovered about yourself. It can be frustrating when people do not see or listen, even when you're trying hard to reach them.
First, I’m sorry for what you’re going through! Second, I think a therapist would help with issues that are arising from quitting smoking. Btw congrats on that!!! As for the deep conversations—did you want that before you stopped smoking, or just now? It’s sometimes hard for partners to deal with another persons moods and depression. Some are good at it, most aren’t. Maybe a therapist through your health insurance? Or on here!
