How to have a positive relationship while grieving
TW: loss of a loved one, grief
Hi,
I just found out my brother passed away. I want to tell my partner the next time I see him, but I am anxious about it. We've only been dating about 3-4 months. He's super sweet and caring and he was really supportive of me having covid this week. I want to be open with him about what happening but don't want him to feel like our relationship is very heavy or that I am putting a lot of pressure on him to support me in grieving so soon. I am also afraid he will take on too much of trying to support me because he's so nice and it seems like he has feelings for me. I think having a normal fun relationship with him like going snowboarding, seeing the matrix movie, etc. will help me take my mind off things too. I guess I'm hoping to try to express all of this to him, just feeling a bit anxious.

Hello Day, I am so sorry for your loss! I can understand how telling your partner about the loss would make you feel anxious!
It is normal to feel concerned about putting pressure on someone we are only getting closer too slowly, your feelings are valid! And I also have to say, i admire your thoughtfulness and consideration, it's a really kind thing to do!
However you mentioned yourself, that this one is a nice guy and would be willing to support you through it! As they did with your covid, how are you doing now? I am sending across speedy recovery beams your way!
Relationships are nice and fun, but relationships also need some kind of emotional connection and openness, perhaps this could be a great stepping stone for y'all, not only in coping with the loss, but also in strengthening your relationship with your partner!
And yes ofcourse, no rush at all, always at y'alls pace and comfort!
You deserve all the support and care you can get during this time! Sending beams of love and strength, hang in there. ❤
