I don't see a future for us. Is it me?

We've been in a serious relationship for almost 2 years. He isn't financially stable but he started to build his savings this year. Not much but compared to last year, he's in a much better situation right now.

Here is the problem. Since I started dating him, I realize that he put his family needs (financial aspects) first without thinking about our future eventhough he's also the one who speaks about marriage most of the time. I understand that this is normal before marriage, however, sometimes it's not an urgent situation but he works so hard to get the money to fulfill his family needs.

Yesterday, he told me that he just received a big bonus and will use everything to renovate his house because his family wants to do it this year with no particular reason. I've talked to him multiple times about this matter, he understands but this keeps happening. I've been feeling down since this conversation, started to feel like what's the point of me working hard for our future while he doesn't think of this as his priority?

The financial issue is indeed sensitive and it's good that you both can discuss it openly, regardless of the disagreement there.

Sounds like he understood you but the family demand, and the need to see his family happy is also there. Those made his and your priorities not in sync. What do you think?
