Just my Story

Hey all, I'm new here. I have been with my fiance J for 2 years now. We just had our son in January. J has multiple sclerosis which I knew before we started dating. I have chron's disease and gastroparesis, as well as fibromyalgia. We understand each others pain. I was hospitalized for 8 days when I was pregnant last August due to needing a feeding tube. I had my son at 37 weeks and he was growth restricted. He was only 4 lbs 13 oz when we brought him home. I've been very sick again since having him.

My fiancΓ© has been having issues with his legs and does fall sometimes. I take care of our son every night and about 98% of the time. My family and my older daughters love J very much. Things are better situation wise than they have been since their dad left 6 years ago. But it seems like nothing is ever serious unless it happens to him. I ended up with covid and pneumonia over the past two months. Nobody posted about me, my mom got irritated because I needed a ride home from the hospital at 1am. I am lightheaded and fell in the bathroom at a store and hit my head the other day. He never posted about me being sick either. But he fell yesterday and hit his head and posted about it. Even my own family was more worried about him than me. It's just frustrating and I am scared to tell him how I really feel. I am afraid to leave because everyone loves him so much. I also suffer from bipolar disorder and a personality disorder. πŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜• we have had some issues with him respecting my feelings about something that he's done 3 times now and just says he wasn't thinking. But that is the problem. I'm not perfect obviously. I get frustrated easily right now. But I don't yell or anything at him or the kids. I get upset over pancakes not being perfect. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Hi Angel, it sounds like you have had a really tough time, and no one is hearing you and validating your experiences. We all need that sort of support. Maybe your family aren't able to provide that for you right now, are there other people you can talk to straightaway? Here, support groups, someone else that you feel is supportive, counsellors? Helplines can be good for an emergency to speak with a real human who will listen and empathise.

These are just some of my thoughts, but they might not all be right for you, so welcome to ignore anything.

You said you understand each other's pain, that is so great, is this physical pain only? Maybe some more understanding about emotional pain is needed? Does he know how you feel about him posting about his own troubles but not yours? Maybe you could let him know, gently, without blaming, that it would mean a lot to you if he posted about both of you, and ask if there is a particular reason he hasn't? Is it possible he just hasn't thought of it, or was respecting your privacy, or something else.

Maybe some relationship counselling could help you both learn tools to communicate better, and even just for yourself if he won't go, to learn ways to get your needs met, which you so deserve. Sending virtual hug. πŸ’›
