My bf(25) and I (21) have been dating for a year and a half. He wants to get engaged soon and I’m not ready but he is willing to wait. Lately I feel like we’ve been getting into a lot more fights and idk if it’s just because we live together constantly or other stuff. We love each other very deeply but have very different interested. I like traveling and he likes staying home and working on cars. I want to go on adventures and he wants to go to the bar. This probably isn’t enough info at all but I don’t know if I’m so into him I want to get married but I’m into him so much I don’t want to break up. Also he is kind caring and thoughtful.

I don’t know all the details but after being married more then 11 years I have realized that we have to embrace one another’s differences and accept one another for who we are on both sides. Otherwise it will be a constant fight people of opposites are put in one another’s lives for reasons and in my experience it’s to bring the best out in one another find a balance that works for both of you and compromise a lot except for marriage if your not ready at this time, wait get to know each other get to a place where u can work together within your different interests

At the end of the day, we know inside what is right for us. The correct answer will feel right! Keep in mind, everyone has differences and it’s all about how well you accept one another’s differences/compliment one another. No one out there is perfect and there are so many factors to a good relationship. It’s not always about same interests, though it helps, but other qualities matter so much too. If you need more time, take the time to think about it, but just trust your inner voice. Good luck! :)

@generatedusername10sometimes opposite interests can increase attraction to each other, but sometimes it causes the opposite if the differences are too strong and/or the couple is not able to find agreements "inbetween" that are manageable for both. Try to find this "inbetween", and if after finding this both are still happy it's a good stable relationship, otherwise it may be better to end this relationship.

You both love each other. That’s the big factor, here. Be glad he’s willing to wait. That’s a really good sign. Differences are good, but can also be too divisive if there are too many of them. You both need to find balance. You will. However, if you’re questioning whether or not to marry him, that says something and it’s good you’re thinking about this. I think you need to sit down with him and have a really long talk with him, if you haven’t already. Tell him how you really feel. Tell him what you’re telling us. You said you both have been arguing more. Maybe each of you needs a few days/week away from each other, if that is possible. But I think that in time, you both will reach a good compromise.
