Should I leave
So basically, I know my issue isn’t as big as most people here.. But i can’t seem to get rid of it. About six months ago I met a guy. And we hit it off really quick. I just got my heart broken by a guy who was giving me mixed signals and I thought that maybe that was it. We talked about a lot of deep stuff and I felt comfortable with him like I never had with a man before. After like 2 months of hanging out I decided that I would like this relationship to go further so I takes to him. He told me that he has a drinking problem and is going tot hersey for it and he doesn’t feel like he’s ready for a relationship. I understand him and I was thankful that he told me about it. But I still decided to end our contact because I could feel myself falling for him and the more hope I would have it would be even worse for me and that would be another heart break that I don’t take well because of my depression. But a month went by and I could see on social media taht something was wrong with him so I decided to reach out. He told me that he missed taking to me and that we should hang out because he couldn’t get himself together after I ended out relationship. Now we’ve talking again for the past 3 months and I feel like Im a t the same place I was.. This is killing me, I’m overthinking all the time what is wrong with me, why hasn’t he made a move.. I feel like he’s using me as someone he can talk to. He sometimes texts me all the time and asks to hang out and then doesn’t respond to my messages for like a week! I’ve wanted to tell him how I feel and that either we’re trying something more or we’re ending it because this is killing me.. I can really fee how it impacts my mental health. But at the same time I can’t bring myself to do it.. I’m scared that I won’t find that kinda comfort with anyone else because he’s the first one who showed interest in me like that. I’m scared that I’m gonna be single forever and that I can’t let him go because maybe one day he’s gonna wake up and want to be with me.. please tell me what do you think I should do.. I need some encouragement.
@tysxnx- so good of you to reach out here and share your story. Your friend is being painfully honest with you on several counts. Saying he is not ready for a relationship because of his alcohol problem. Yet he values talking and your friendship. It sounds like nothing had changed and he is maintaining this position. Thus there is nothing wrong with you - he knows his limitations at this point in his life. I have to read between the lines to address your fear that you will not find another partner and will remain single. It is easy to say there are many possible partners out in the world. But it is true.
Honor his steadfastness to take care of himself at this time. And please you need to do the same, put emphasis on the things that give you joy and contentment. Exercise, eating right, planning other activities may help you overthinking.
I wish you the best and hope you have other support going through this situation.
