I’m with my boyfriend for over 2 years. I am 18 years old and he is the same. This is both mine and his first relationship.

Every time I go for a party or I hang out with my friends, he is mad at me, he cries and has anxiety attacks. During our relationship, I broke up with him a couple times, because I couldn’t see him suffer anymore. However we always agreed in the end and he promised that he would try to trust me and change his approach.

After a few months, during another quarell it always turned out that nothing had changed.

I don’t know what to do. I love him very much and he loves me with all his heart and he is scared of losing me. At the same time I need friends in my life, I need freedom and I want to just live life…

Unless he does a lot of soul searching, self growth and maturation, from the sound of it I'm afraid he probably can't hang. Well, not if you want a life that's not confined to the unrealistic expectation of relying on him for all your social needs, anyway. If he has deep seated insecurity issues then that's acceptable to talk about, be sensitive to and work on, but it's not reasonable of him to expect him for you to never see your friends or go out to events on your own ever. Healthy relationships are built on mutual trust. Perhaps talking with him about communication/checking in could help ease his relationship anxiety, as well as having a discussion about what's reasonable vs. not reasonable behavior and highlighting that the best apology is changed behavior. He is entitled to his anxious feelings, but he is not entitled to trying to control you to cope with them (rather than working on them on his own).

Get out now.. he's had his chances.. let his mom.or counselling fix him, you can always go back.. but I think perhaps you won't...
