Bipolar and sex

I just got off a relationship of 6 years because my partner cheated due to sexual frustration.

The stress from work along with my bipolar ups and downs had a huge impact on my libido and at times on any physical contact. We did end up going through a dry spell for a significant amount of time. It was during this relationship that I got diagnosed with bipolar.

His demands for sexual drive got more vocal with emphasis on how the root cause was me. This added to the stress as it was evident the toll it took on our relationship altogether. As a result, it crushed my libido even more. The pressure of anything sexual gave me immense anxiety from the fear of dissapointing him again.

Anyways, now I am afraid of performing ever again and immense intimacy and trust issuses and don't know what I can try out in my day to day approach.

Any suggestions are welcome

@Zen4diaz

it is hard to deal with a medical issue being the cause of a "dry spell" if you were diagnosed when this happened ....... what did you both think was the source of your low libido ?

The frustration one feels when their partner shows zero interest is wrapped up in feeling unattractive or unwanted ...... the it is not you it is Me line ......does not always fix anything ........ i am sure he might feel bad that he strayed and wants to turn is back on you....to not feel as guilty

i think anyone with a health issue has worries about........ if it will be different or awkward .........and as most know when we overthink............. it is awkward ........... not as we planned which just raises more stress as your partner is hoping your issues can be cured and you can resume your normal relations and might be stressing that it will never be back.

That is hard I was in a relationship with someone who was bipolar and she had no sex drive but when she talk about what was going on with her I realized sex is part of a relationship but not the whole thing we took it slow you have to find someone who is understanding and is willing to take his time and be in a relationship if you need to talk reach out to anyone here myself included
