HERPES

I'm so scared to post this, but-- is it possible to get this without having any kind of sexual contact with someone? I had an outbreak many years ago-- a single wart--but it lasted so short that I didn't think much of it. Late last year, it came back in the same spot and stayed for a good month. It happened during a really stressful time and during my period. I tried to get an appointment to get it checked out but, at the time, I didn't have a gyno and the free clinic by me didn't have immediate appointments available. It's only been a couple of months and that wart is back. I'm freaking out. I scheduled an appointment with a gyno now that I have insurance. I'm so terrified that I'll be diagnosed with herpes. But I haven't had ANY kind of sex with anyone (or than myself) nor have I had any genital-to-genital contact with anyone. I don't want to jump to conclusions, but what else could it be?

I find it really really hard to move on. I get really emotional everytime as a man gave me this infection and left me with it as if it wasnt his fault. There are days im happy and some days i get realllllllllllllly tearful as i feel really concious on whether i should tell my family, only 2 people know about this one is a very close family friend who is also my manager and the other is the guys friend who tries to help me when i get to the level (including the one who passed it his just a b*****d) i regret every sleeping with him.

I'm 21 years old. I've been with the same man for over two years. We went on a break recently and he slept with someone else...When we got back together, we had unprotected sex. I went to the OBGYN as more of a precautionary measure but got the call today. I tested positive for HSV2. It's a little devastating that a single interaction can result in something so permanent...It scares me to think about transmitting it to my children, to no longer feel sexy or desirable, to have an incurable disease for the rest of my life. I don't know how to move forward in my relationship or my life...Please help.

Hello. I just found out I have been diagnosed with herpes. I am not sure how to process it. I was seeing this guy for about 2 years. I really cared about him but he never really reciprocated my feelings and lied to me about seeing other people. We had a fight and called it off a couple weeks ago. Then I got tested and found this out. I'm not sure if he knew or not, but he it's likely he may have known. He would probably lie to me about it even if he did. I'm not sure if I should talk to him about it. I don't want to turn to someone who has hurt me repeatedly for help, support or consolation; but I don't feel like I can talk to anyone else besides my doctor. I'm pretty certain that he doesn't really like me or care about me. I feel ruined. I'm not sure what I should do to process this.

I have herpes - I joined this site years ago because I was still upset by it. Today, I can almost forget that I have it (4 years later). The difference is that I disclosed to someone I was interested in (first disclosure!), and he absolutely did not react badly to it. He reacted amazingly well - he shared a personal experience and it was a positive conversation.

I think the moment you realize that people don't define you by your virus, you begin to see that you do not need to define yourself by it as well. At least, this is how it worked for me. I had agonized over it for a long time, and there was no need to do that.
