I need help from fellow non-sexual people

I am not a very sexual person and it’s becoming a huge issue in my relationship. I really always thought of sexual things as purely physical and that’s it, nothing deeper. It wasn’t until recently that I learned that it is something way deeper. I’ve been with him for 6 years and we’re still both virgins and I feel awful everyday about it. I know that if I don’t give him this side of me then he will leave me and I don’t want that. For the non-sexual people out there with a sexual partner, how are you making it work between you? I need a lot of help and advice for this situation.

I think you might be asexual, or Demisexual. And that's okay. Tell your partner you're not comfortable with doing sex. As an demisexual person in a relationship, with a hypersexual no less, I simply let them do as they please. Sex isn't all there is to a relationship.

I don't know how to make it work, but do you both connect on other levels and have shared hobbies/interests? I've identified for asexual for many years, but lately I've been evolving. I don't think it's impossible to keep relationships alive without sex--communication and learning new things together can go a long way. I hope others who are in similar situations can share more as well.

@charmingWillow3928 I am sorry you are experiencing this. There is a strong asexual community on 7 cups under the LGBTQ forums that I'm sure would support you. Your feelings are valid and the types of intimacy you want to have are valid and normal. I am not asexual but based on being in the LGBTQ community it seems that some people try dating another asexual partner or may stay with a sexual partner with some communication and "work-arounds" of sorts.
