Tested Positive for HSV2

I received a call from my doctor about lab results, and I've been dianosed with herpes simplex virus 2 (also known as genital herpes). I'm not in an outbreak/haven't ever had one, but I'm devastated. It's not curable. How do I cope?

@mads390 - Hi sweetie, first of all, I'm sorry that you're going through this. I know it must be a really hard thing to find out and a really emotional time for you. But there is nothing wrong with you, nor does this need to mean anything huge about you or your life. Lots of people have an STI and live happy, fulfilled lives. What it does mean is that using protection during sex is very important to protect yourself and your partners going forward.

I'm sorry I don't have more to say in terms of specifics as I don't know a ton about HSV2 in particular, but if you would like to talk about how you're feeling and how to cope, you are always welcome to message me and I can help you find some resources with more information as well, if that's helpful.

Good luck and take care, and hold your head up! You are the same person you were before this diagnosis, and that person is wonderful and deserving of happiness.
