2 year secret

I found out my fiancé has been hiding credit debt for about 2 years of our 4 year relationship. I just bought a home and he was going to move in and help with expenses. He is in school, so he works part time but makes a little money. After finding this out, there’s no way he will be able to help pay bills let alone take care of himself. I feel anger and sadness. Our financial goals are crumbling. I don’t know how to get him out of this. I could pay it off but lose most of my hard earned savings, or let him get a personal loan and pay it off that way. With the personal loan it will take about 5 years to pay off with double the price tag. I hate that this has become my problem and I feel such resentment.

@Listener789

Hello,

I feel sad about the trouble you are going through.

To help you get through this, I have some suggestions:

Firstly, do you love your fiancé and want to spend your life with him? If not, break up with him because it may not be a good idea to live with a person who doesn't know how to organize his money. In contrast, if you very love him, you could either ignore his debt and let him pay by himself (because his debt is in fact none of your business), or you could pay for him.

Do not feel guilty or any negative emotion after you choose. This is your life and you lead it.

Also, don't regret in the future for what decision you have made now.

After all, I hope you will have a good day and enjoy your summer.
