Who here has had an affair and left their spouse or gf/bf for another man or woman and it worked out?

Who has been married, fell in love with someone else and then lived happily ever after with the mister or mistress?

Im in love with someone who isnt my husband and it terrifies me because Im not stupid even though my actions say otherwise... but what are my chances that the guy Im having the affair with and I will ever be happy together?

@tragickitty It can and does happen but there's no way to know for certain if it would be true for you or not. Unfortunately there is no "certain" answer in these circumstances.

@ReadBooksDrinkTea what are your thoughts about this:

we work together;

he kissed me, now were 9 months into an affair and in love...

he has a history of having affairs ... 17 other girls besides me that either had a bf or were married.

@tragickitty Run. You're nothing more than another in a line of conquests. If he has a history of this you're just another one or he has no idea how to break the cycle.

It's ulitimately decide what to do but it seems like you'll only be in for more hurt if you decide to stay.

Hey, affairs happen, a lot.. So your not weird or different. I generally don't like affairs as the emotional damage usually to both ppl is a lot.

As a man, my natural instinct is to feel bad for the husband. But I also know that for this to happen somethings likely had to be faulty from his side. That doesn't make it OK, but can explain why.

Some thoughts, not to answer in this thread, just for you to consider.

Did you initiate the pickup with the new guy or did the new guy? If it was you, then maybe it has a stronger chance. If it was the guy, and if he knew you are married I would give him lots of negative points for morals, meaning what else is wrong with him past the initial good looking and sexy. Also it is somewhat easy to take advantage of a girl that is in a relation/marriage that is not strong. But if it was initiated from your side then he might not be a player. And you might not really know who instigated it. Did he know your are married before you and he got together, did you tell him that you are leaving your husband.. The point is, was he innocent or taking a married girl on purpose. Meaning how will he treat you and others you love in balance with his own wants in the future and what principals does he live by that you would be subject to.

Good Luck

IDK...I recently left my husband because of his lack of emotional closeness, selfishness, and immaturity. I did start to confide in a friend of mine near the end and I'm dating him now. So I technically didn't leave my husband for him, but he certainly played a role if nothing else than showing me I deserved better (someone who could listen and empathize). We did wait until I officially moved out before "dating" although there was definitely a grey area where we were hanging out before that.

I hear you. I think that's what kept me there for so long when things weren't working. My husband prefers to avoid conflict, so my only communication with him in the past month has been logistics. Sadly, I think he'll have less of a role in our son's life. However, he had already chosen that by withdrawing and keeping to himself while I was still living there. My son's already asked why he hasn't heard much from his dad.

Something I debated was whether it was better to teach my son about the value of marriage staying together vs. show that it's better to get out of a relationship where you're not treated well. I decided on the latter.
