Alcoholic ex wife. Now getting sober. Should I try again?
My ex wife is an alcoholic and addict. She cheated on me a lot and we have been off and on for 15 years. She is finally getting clean and I want to support her. We both feel that we have a special connection but we could never make it work. She has been an addict since almost day one of our relationship and I had some really bad anger issues. She has told me she wants to be with me but she is scared it will never work. She has also told me that she runs when she gets scared and that’s why she has always cheated or left me. We both feel we could probably be happy with someone else but that we will always love each other and that we probably would be happiest if we could figure out how to be together. I don’t know if I can be close to her and support her if she is going to be dating other guys. I don’t know if I should stick around through her recovery and possibly get myself hurt again for the chance of us figuring things out and being happy.

sobriety is a tough road especially if she was long term addict ......
in the start they want to believe it will last but many relapse ..... i know you have feelings for her but you need to be true to yourself that there will be risk of relapse and same old behavior popping up sounds like you have spoken honestly with each other so you would not be going in with rose colored glasses ...... only you know if you are strong enough to be hurt again.
