Anniversary after Infidelity

About a month ago, I found out my husband had had an affair that lasted at least a year. It ended in October of last year, so I’m finding out after the fact. We are trying to work things out and he is saying and doing all the right things. Our wedding anniversary is coming up at the beginning of April. I’m worried that I’m not going to be a happy camper. The emotions have been unpredictable. Would you celebrate your anniversary so soon?

It is a difficult situation you're dealing with and your feelings are valid. Even the hesitation about celebrating an anniversary so fresh from the loss of trust is perfectly natural.

Are you able to discuss these emotions with him to see if maybe the day can be marked in a way that feels okay with you? As you navigate this painful path back to healing, it is reasonable to protect yourself from avoidable hurt as you go along.

I hope you can both find a way forward from this terrible moment in the relationship.

Om has already made a great response.

I would just like to answer your question on a personal note: Would you celebrate your anniversary so soon?

Personally, no. If my husband did that, I'll probably not celebrate another wedding anniversary until a decade later, instead it will be a day of him reflecting at home. It would be my message to him to remember what he did and what he promise me for this marriage to continue.
