Crumbs of love
I’ve been in a relationship with someone for over 3 years now. We fit together really well and it’s overal a healthy and positive relationship. However, he isn’t vocal about how he feels about me. (Or a lot less so than in the beginning) this leaves me feeling constantly like I’m searching the ground for any crumbs of love left behind. And sometimes I don’t feel like I have enough to keep the faith going. Sometimes I feel like he’s just indifferent. Like he’s not actively in love but not yet checked out.
he occasionally says ‘I love you’ but with a hard to read poker face. When I asks about our relationship he gets upset. Or he points out that he’s still here so of course, yes, everything is ok. (Which leads me to think our love languages are different)
i don’t feel like I cannot live without his validation but I don’t want to feel like I’m wasting time in a relationship with an uninterested party either. What can I do?

I hear you- it sounds like a very tough situation with him being so emotionally distant and not vocal about affection. I get what you mean by not wanting constant validation but atleast some sort of confirmation that he's interested in you and the relationship.
Unfortunately looks like speaking to him upsets him, and it's a strange in-between spance and setting distance.
Do you think it might be a good idea to interact about everyday things and spend more time together? It might help in bonding. Another thing that comes to my mind is spending time together doing something new or something you both enjoy.
Another thing that might help is to engage in conversation and kind of create a safe space before diving into the serious topic with him.
I hope this helps, and I really hope that things get easier for the two of you. We're all here rooting for you!
