Dating outside your religion
Does anyone have any tips for when your in a relationship with diferent beliefs. For a bit of background, my guy is atheist and I'm Christian. I've always told him I don't care what you belive as long as you have a reason for it because if you don't know why you belive that then you don't actually belive it you're just blindly following. Now I'm very respectful of his beliefs and when we do talk about religion I am in now way shape or form trying to shove my beliefs onto him. But I often feel like he doesn't respect my beliefs and takes any chance he can to try to shove his onto me. We rarely talk about religion but when we do it's frustrating because I can agree to disagree and know how to stop talking when it's needed but he always has to have the final word which I don't understand. Neither of us are going to change our opinions so I don't understand why he has to keep pushing me. I also haven't said anything because I don't want to feel like I'm attacking him because I honestly don't think he realizes he's doing it.
It feels like you both need to talk about it. It's okay to not believe in each other's belief but a mutual respect for each other's choice of religions is very much needed. Please don't try to force your beliefs into each other, it would create so much hurt and conflict. So sit down and tell him that this shouldn't matter to you as a couple because following a certain religion is an individual choice. Also looks like he has a control problem since he has to have the last word but don't worry you can fix this, just sit down and communicate.
