Eye-opening
Yesterday, while I was headed out, I ran into a friend of mine who lives in the neighborhood. So we got to talking, right? Un in the middle of the conversation, he said that his unit had just flooded. When I tried to tell him a relating story it was "I don't care." The way he said it was very cold and hurtful. So when I tried to walk away, he continued to criticize me about how he was trying to dump on me and all I wanted to do was talk about myself. I ended up getting really mad and flipped the bird off at him. I also told him he should a therapist, and that I felt sorry for him.
He said, "Why thank you, I still like you and I am a your friend." He kept on lipping off so I told him to "Shut up."
While I get that he is under a lot of stress and I need to leave him alone I don't think the relationship is worth it.
I woke up yesterday to the fact that the relationship might be one-sided and this friend doesn't like me that much isn't interested. Examples:
.1. Every time we have a conversation, his stories and what's going on in his life are more important. If I talk about anything in my life, he never seems interested. It's "Ok" or "I don't care,"
2. He has lots of cats and I have one too, but he never seems to ask about mine. I always have to ask about his. He seems more interested if I am taking care of my cat. Am I brushing her? Am I cleaning out her litter box and I should do everything just like him.
3 . He he also criticized me several times "You know, you worry too much about what others think about you. You're very insecure that way."
So I think I am going to quietly move on with my life after having my eyes opened yesterday that we are not a good pair.

Hi there! It sounds like you did not feel heard in this friendship, and like it was very one-sided. I'm so glad you realized that! And I hope you find friends who are loving and supportive.
Take care!

Yes, I have other friends and I am learning to be pickier about who I spend my time with. Because, it's just amazing how many people are toxic.
I hardly ever get mad at him, but yesterday he really pushed my buttons. I was also dealing wiry spam other personal issues and then he made me worse. I was so upset that I ended up crying. At first I thought about just giving him some personal space. Then I thought it through and realized that this is a self-Centered and self-absorbed person who is a jerk
