Growing distant and seemingly annoyed at each other.

Its nice to vent, but i also need some advice. So lately since the beginning of the eyar Ive been really studying for my MCATS. I take them in 4 months and im really stressed out beyond belief. My and my girlfriend of almost 4 years were fine but she then started hanging out with one of her friends like every night. I understand shes bored but all they do is drink and get wasted. Then when i take the time to hang out with her she decides to sleep 2hrs in (around 11pm) when she usually parties with her friend till 2am. I was a little peeved and worried but i let it go, taking the opportunity to study. The other night while i was working she didnt reply for 6 hours. the next day i confronted her and she replied, i just didnt get the message then she went off saying how i always do this, stop her from having fun, ect. I told her you know it was just a glitch but she continued to say things of that nature. So i just told her alright, bye and you wont even listen. She hasnt messaged me back in 2 days; so i just decided to deactivate my facebook. If she wants to talk i only live 5 minutes from her, but other than that im just depressed over the whole situation. I feel like she never appreciates me anyways and takes everything i do for her granted. Before i deativated my facebook she changed her profile picture from us to her and her best friend. What should i do? weve had this talk so many times and its just annoying by now. Should i look for a more normal person?

I can see how this could cause you frustration. I think you hit the nail on the head though. You're both drifting apart. She's starting to follow a different path in life, one that doesn't include you. Communicating your feelings to her and how she's making you feel may be a good idea to help you get over this and decide what to do next. Good luck!

It sounds like you already feel you both aren't working the best that you could be together, and that you feel generally treated not too well by her. It's frustrating when our partners don't seem to be able to balance their time and attention fairly between us and their other relations. While people shouldn't smother each other socially, given that it's a relationship and two people engage in those willingly with the aim to be happy together and individually, there is definitely a certain level of attention, affection, respect, time and effort due. You said you've talked over this issue with her multiple times before, but it doesn't sound like it's made much impact and that she actually blames you for her unhappiness/accuses you of getting in the way of her fun, which is unfair as she hasn't balanced her fun well between her friend(s) and you.

Taking a break off social media and with your girlfriend for a few days may help bring clarity to what you truly feel about the relationship and what's been going on. Have you thought about what you'll do if she comes around to talk? How do you think you'll feel about it - excited, relieved, annoyed, tired? Or if she doesn't; are you ready to take an actual break or generally move on? You asked whether or not you should look for someone new; does the idea of that bother you or make you feel bad?
