My fiancé and I have been engaged for 2 years but together for almost 8. I have depression and I am also an emotional person in general. I feel like we’ve had the same conversation/arguments for 5 years about the amount of effort and energy he puts in our relationship and the amount of intimacy he provides. I often find myself wondering if he isn’t interested in me anymore but is too comfortable to leave or if it’s in my head and I’m looking into things too much and letting my imagination wander too far. Every time we talk about how I feel he immediately calms me and reassures me that he loves me and everything. I tell him all the time that actions speak louder than words and he seems to understand and change what he’s doing for a few days but eventually it goes back to how it was. I don’t know what to do anymore. Our wedding is coming up in 7 months and we are moving back to our home town soon too. I can’t imagine my life without him and would never want to leave him but we can’t afford therapy and I feel like my words and my solutions aren’t getting through to him. I’m open to any advice or suggestions to help my relationship.

@AV52722

I understand how it feels when there's a lack of connection and when we are unable to feel as close to someone we once were .

Communication definitely helps and I am glad you tried, i hear that he doesn't keep up with his behaviour for long time period , maybe because he has been accustomed in the relationship for all this while as it has been .

Maybe some more communication can help , where you can also mention that you don't feel he makes much efforts and you would appreciate to know how you all can work on it and what might need some change .

Maybe spending more time can help too .

@AV52722 Hello there! I see that you are going through a lot. Please bear in mind that your happiness should always come first and did you try to talk to friends or relatives about it? Indeed actions do speak louder than words. I think you should really think things through properly before taking such a big step ahead in life if this relationship is making you depressed. Regarding therapy, I am sure you can try to negotiate the price with a therapist.
