I feel I’m being emotionally abused by my husband
He ridicules me because I get tired easily and suffer from depression/am mentally and emotionally weaker than he is.
He constantly picks at me about my eating unhealthily and being overweight.
He guilts me into sex and makes me feel my lack of interest is all down to my past problems (my mum was in a pscological threatening and abusive relationship for 9 years when I was growing up and I was scared of him/hated him) ……and nothing at all to do with the fact that I’m made to feel fat and useless all the time until he wants sex then he will do his best to be nice and helpful for the day or the second half and f the day.
He earns alot more per month, as my job pays a lot less and I only work 28 hours (we have two children age 9/12) I’m made to feel like I should be working more hours to earn more even though he sees I’m always struggling with tiredness and juggling home life.
He always talks Nasty about my family and my background to me and doesn’t care if he hurts my feelings ever.
He jokes (belittles me) not caring if he’s upsetting me. In fact, I think that’s the whole point a lot of the time.
I only feel stressed and bad about myself when he is around. It’s like as soon as he walks in the house he’s this big loud presence that I feel is judging me all the time and I don’t miss him anymore because when he’s not home I can breath, be myself and rest when I need to without feeling lazy for doing so.
I am so sorry you are going through this. This must be so difficult for you. I know that at times it is so hard to do but something that I try to remember is to always tell myself that I am worthy and that I am loved. I focus in on those things around me that can build me up such as the love of my children and my own pride in the small accomplishments (even if they do not meet anyone else’s standards). It doesn’t always work but I am working hardest on loving myself.
