I feel like a burden to my S/O

Hi, I’ve been in a committed relationship for over a year now and just recently I’m feeling like a burden to him. Lately, it seems like he doesn’t want to communicate or talk much like we used to. Is it just because we’re out of that “honeymoon” phase and I’m holding onto that? I try to talk to him when I’m feeling sad or not myself and it simply feels like he isn’t interested. I understand he has his own stuff going on and work and friends he hangs out with, but this is becoming a usual thing and it’s not like he didn’t have all this going on before when he would be more responsive and in touch with my feelings. Am I becoming to much for him? He mentioned that I make him anxious in a recent argument, and those aren’t my intentions, but I thought I was able to open up to him about how I’m feeling but lately I feel as though I can’t. I’ve been more respectful at giving him space and only see him once or twice a week because he has told me he wants time for himself and to work on bettering himself, but I feel as though there should be some sort of compromise. I feel like he’s slipping away from me and I feel so alone and like I have no one to talk to anymore. He’s my best friend but lately I’ve never felt more distanced from him. How do I approach this? Every time I try I’m told I’m making him anxious or he goes quiet and doesn’t respond to my feelings.

@djhmbtr Do you have a counselor or long-term listener here on 7 cups? What about other friends or family you lean on for support? Do you also listen to things your bf is struggling with and mix in fun dates or chats about lighter things? It's good to be open with him, but he may have some compassion fatigue if you don't have other supports or coping mechanisms.

I never thought of it that way before. I don’t have a counselor and this is my first time on this app, so I’m hoping this will provide me with some insight on how to cope with my emotions on my own. I have a few friends that probably wouldn’t mind to help also, and my parents, but I feel like I’d be burdening them with my problems and emotions the same way I feel that I do with my bf. I’m hoping to find healthier coping mechanisms.
