Is it bad that I can’t fall asleep unless I’m on a phone call with my girlfriend?

Currently in a long distance relationship with my girlfriend since the start of November and everything is going great and we’re deeply in love. At the start of the relationship we would always be on a call for hours just talking and eventually falling asleep.

We got into the routine of that up until around Xmas break when she had family over and couldn’t do late night calls. Which I understood and had no problem with and I slept normal hours for a while.

Since the start of last week I’ve been having trouble falling asleep/staying asleep. I guess it’s because I felt safe and relaxed when I knew she was there with me, but it’s been about 4 weeks since the last time we had a late night call.

Am I being clingy/obsessive?

Considering you’re in a long-distance relationship, it’s reasonable to want to be on the phone with each other. Particularly, if you are both okay with it and enjoy it. Given that you got into the habit of it, I can see how change would disrupt your sleep. Hmm. When it comes to being clingy, I feel that’s the tendency of wanting to be together or talk 24/7. Since you said, it’s just a night thing, then I do feel it is a bit different. But that also depends on you and your partners boundaries and how she feels about it! I hear where you are coming from though. It seems you just fall asleep easier on the phone with her since she helps you relax. 💜
