My partner detests my daughter

My relationship with my partner is dissolving after 10 years and with a 9yrs old son together. He hates my daughter so much and makes life so very hard for her that I can't tolerate it. She's 17 and shows some signs of being aspergers like 21 year old son, but she's not diagnosed. When my son lived with us, coping with his behaviour was really, really hard.. especially for a stepdad. I do understand. No matter what my daughter does it doesn't do though, my partner's behaviour towards her is unacceptable. She's away staying with friends this week but I'm truly dressing her coming back on Friday for all our sakes, but especially hers. She doesn't deserve this. I really could do with some one to share this with. I don't want to share with family or friends who may sit in judgment.

@gracefullily i'm sorry. I don't really have any suggestion for that. But i hear you.

@gracefullily

That is certainly a very difficult situation! It sounds like you know where your priorities lay, so it's just a matter of "doing the right thing". I know it won't be easy but I think it's important to ask yourself, would you rather lose your partner or your children? I don't think your partner is a bad person but, "detest" is a strong word. From the sounds of it, there is very little wiggle room for a peaceful resolution that can satisfy both parties. Your child is potentially dealing with issues that are out of her control, it's important that she find support and love during this time. As the saying goes, "blood is thicker than water".

Sending positive thoughts your way. Take care xx
