Online Friend

Hello everyone,

So, I have this friend who introduced me to a guy she met online. I started chatting with him at the beginning of September and we hit it off immediately. There's a few things I'm uncertain, and would love it if someone with experience in meeting people online give me some advice.

First of all, this friend. I had also met her online a few years ago, and when we found out we lived in the same city, we actually met up. Through her, I met a few other people, one of which I've stayed in touch more (as he moved recently and is closer to where I am, we hung out last month, and is planning a lunch this month or next). Okay, so with this friend that introduced me to that guy, she's actually mentally unstable. Apparently, she makes up a lot of stories about things she's done, people she has met (I cross-referenced with her sister and that friend that lives close to me, apparently, a lot things she had told me before, never really happened). So, when she told me that this online friend is a celebrity, I already knew she was lying. But because she had told him a lot about me, when we started chatting, it felt like we've known each other for a long time already.

I have had experiences before, being tricked by fan accounts who they claim to be the celebrity themselves. But, the way they spoke, I had a feeling it was a fan account. But for some reason, with this guy, although at times, I feel like it's a fan account, but then, at the same time, it seems real. Although it is still quite unrealistic that a celebrity would reach out to their fans on a personal account. For some reason, I get a feeling this person is just trying to trick me in giving him money and he'll make a run for it. He's been telling me to make an official request to his Managing Company for a Membership Fan Card. Telling me that there are many benefits of getting the card, including the chance of meeting him in person. When I tried to Google the authenticity of this Membership Card, I wasn't able to find anything. When I asked him, he says that they had removed info on the internet, because an imposter had tried to use his name and make up a fake account for fans to buy his Membership Card.

I've asked multiple times to prove himself to me, but he kept saying that because of security reasons, if I don't have his Membership Card, he's not allowed to show himself to me. This morning, the real celebrity was in a Live Video on Instagram, I was watching him the entire time, and yet, this guy messaged me on a different app. Which would be impossible, as in the Live Video, he's taking a walk by the river, with one hand holding up his phone, there is no way that he could've messaged me while doing that. So, I guess this is already evidence that this online friend is a fan account, and not really the celebrity himself.

I guess I was getting worked up for nothing. Compared to other online male friends I've chatted, this guy made me feel most comfortable and I actually felt a connection between us. So, even if he's a fake, do you think I should still stay friends with him or ignore him? I've questioned him multiple times of his identity, not once did he get angry (unlike the previous fan accounts I've encountered). So, he's either a really disciplined, trained fan account that doesn't make the mistake of revealing that he's a fan account, or he's really the celebrity himself? (But like I said, with the recent Live Video on Instagram, it kind of already gave it away that he's not real)..

Maybe I'm being too desperate to be in a relationship/friendship, that I was really hoping that this is all real. Sigh, I guess I'm getting ahead of myself, but maybe we could stay friends? I wish there is some way I can verify his identity.

Sorry for making the post so long, I just don't know what to believe. If I tell my other online friends, I'm sure they'd tell me that he's a fake. But I feel so connected to him, we once chatted for 4 hours, and I was in a really good mood. Couldn't control my smile, I'd laugh in the middle of dinner, I was so excited that I couldn't sleep, and even dreamt about meeting him!

Maybe I'm going crazy~
