Online dating can be a harmful norm
Last night, i decided to re-download Bumble (an online dating app). I’ve had my share of relationships and feel like im on the right path to a higher sense of self-healing & self-love. I have been a user for a while but needed a break from it until last night when I decided that i felt confident enough to talk to someone else. Matched with a decent dude who was responsive, and held a fairly nice conversation. Mid-convo, im typing while answering his question: he then sends a long ass message stating how he’s deleting the app and thinks its so useless and everyone is “weird on here so it justifies him being weird too”. I cried, unmatched, and deleted the app again out of frustration because i thought it was going well. I dont have a problem with him not vibing with me or vice versa, I just didnt expect the suddenness in hostility and rejection.
Thats why i think this is a sign for me to stay away from online dating and just use this current time to focus on myself and my family + friends. Online dating can be fun and useful for some, but I just feel like social interactions (especially in the dating world atm) has completely shifted in a technological world.
Earlier as i cried, there was a quick moment where i felt like every time i put myself out there, i get knocked down. then i thought, this is a sign for me that I can’t look for that special bond with someone. it’ll find me and until then, I am okay with being by myself and with myself.
This is a lot to deal with at the same time, and terrible that the person just came out of nowhere to send this message to tell you that you're weird. I hope you find someone who will work it out with you.
@ambitiousbeach333 Really difficult to find the right person ive encontered some strange people but i don't let it get to me i just had to unmatch for my own good and don't forget toxic people too.
Word to that friend! Thank you for your kind words and helpful tips! Im sure many ppl can relate especially with current times. Sending over positive energy and warm hugs. @sally2345986

Hey there, I'm personally against online dating for various reasons. In my opinion, it's rare to find someone who's secure and ready for a relationship on those online apps. You will see a lot of people with certain issues and a lot of them are looking to get their unmet needs met through a person online. They are exceptions of course, but on most cases it always lead to unexpected things.
You didn't deserve to go through what you did with this person online, it really seems like he took his anger out on you and was very rude on his message. You are not weird at all, he is the weird one for seeking to hurt you with his long message. I do hope you can find someone who can treat you well and ready to be in a relationship after getting to know him.
