Relationships and Relapsing
Hi. My name is Jenny. And heres my situation. It's not that serious but it bothers me.
My boyfriend quit smoking/vaping about a year ago. I quit smoking/vaping about 6 months ago.
I'll be honest, I wasnt ready to quit. I loved to (at this time) vape. I carried that thing everywhere I went. It was my security blanket, the one thing that kept me sane. But my boyfriend was adamant about me quitting and made comments about how I needed to quit because he quit. I knew I needed to quit but really didnt want to. But I did it anyway.
I quit in June 2019. These past 2 months, I have been craving cigarettes. I have no idea why. But the craving has been so great that I asked my boyfriends sister for a cigarette 2 weeks ago. And then I found myself buying a pack.
i know relapses are normal and it might take a few tries to quit smoking for good. When my boyfriend found out, he was furious. I felt super bad so i told him I would stop.
but i dont want to! not right now.. I know it's stupid but I'm a grown ass woman and I shouldnt be told that I cant go buy cigarettes.
anyways, the question I have is:
Is it wrong for my boyfriend to threaten to break up with me if i dont quit smoking right away? Keep in mind, I am respecting him by doing it outside; not in the house, not in my car, no where near him and making sure I wash my hands and contain the smoke smell. We've been together for 3 years..

The thing is, you can't give any up addiction for anyone else it just wont work! You have to want to quit addiction for yourself and your own reasons. Personally, I do think your boyfriend is being unreasonable here, it's like him saying "I dont like chocolate so your never having it again" I don't think it's fair of him issuing threats because your not doing what he tells you to, thats an element of emotional blackmail. If your adamant your not ready to quit yet, you have to find a way for him to accept and be reasonable about your decision. You know, relationships have to have understanding and support weather you agree with actions or not, its a partnership, and successful partnerships never agree on everything, they compromise. Good luck.
Hi ✌️ has anyone delt with being in a relationship with a good person but struggling with meth addiction?

quitting addiction is never easy, not impossible though, what works for someone does not necessarily work for another, specially when you are not fully convinced with the reason to do it.
no one can tell you about your relation, each relation has its own dynamics, but hearing the word threat in any given relation does not settle down well for me.
