Taking a break in a relationship?

I am having anxiety issues which I feel mainly stems from my brain overthinking.

My(25M) partner(18F) have been together for about 6 months. Before the relationship, we have been close for about a year and dating for almost half a year. She has been cold ever since Mid June. But we did meet up to talk about the relationship first week of July and the answer she has given was that she was feeling overwhelmed with the new Covid measures and other things in her life. We were fine after the talk, back to how we were normally for a few days before she started to withdraw again.

She finally asked for a break 2 weeks back to focus on her tasks and exams which ends the end of August. She mentioned that she doesn't want to be distracted by commitments nor commit right now. I am having trouble believing that the reason is valid enough for a break. I have common doubts of "there being another person" or "she lost interests in me".

I also don't believe in breaks during a relationship, but decided to have the break to give her the space she has asked for and to work on myself, being less attached/clingy or prioritising her too highly. But I don't see how this break will end positively.

I have seeked my friends opinions and they have all mainly said that it most probably is true for her and she just needs the space and time to focus on her stuff and I should trust her mainly because she has been committed till the moment she requested for the break.

She also comes from a typical strict Asian family. Sleeping before 12am, being home before 10pm.

Its been 2 weeks since we had a conversation of any sorts.

Just seeking some advice on how to better focus on myself and also to seek opinion on this relationship break.

If there are any other insights i could provide, feel free to ask me and I will answer them to my best abilities.

Hi @crimsonFig1116. I can identify with the worriness nand apprensiveness you feel as you are not sure what is running in her mind and perhaps you cannot see her expressions physically. It is good that you you have thought about attachment/clingy aspects in your relationship. Looks like this short break is also helping you to access and look deeper into your own qualities and thoughts
Lots of families nowadays, emphasis on educating and empowering their female children as they want these girls to be able to stand on their own feet to face the world, be it Asians or any one in the world. Which is tremendously beneficial and valuable to these girls. So sometimes boundaries are set, small sacrifes are made and so on. It is not easy but I guess faith and respect of the relationship and with each other helps . I like to share this link of an article in 7 cups. There are many insightful articles and self help guides in 7 cups. Hope they are of some help to you.
