What should I do?

So i've been seeing this guy for the last 5 months and it had been going great up until last weekend where he went silent on me I messaged him Tuesday and got nothing and messaged again the Wednesday to make sure everything was ok. I eventually got a reply back Thursday saying he was sorry and that he'd been having a nightmare at home and he would call me that night to explain.

I never got that phone call but he messaged me on the Friday and said it was too much to explain in text but he really needed to see me, which I was happy to do but as it was late i couldn't get a train in time again the same thing happened Saturday but he had been visiting family so we arranged for yesterday to meet which I got ready and organised and heard nothing back from him.

I messaged him again today and told him that i would be there for him when he was ready to talk but i'm not just going to be an option its not fair to me. I feel like i'm bombarding him and i don't want to do.

The only thing that has changed is that two weeks ago he told ne he loved me which at the time took me aback a little because i wasn't expecting if he just said it in the heat of the moment which i asked him and he said he meant it. I didn't say it back at the time but I did in a message which i wanted to wait to see him to say but i didn't know when we would be able to see each other next.

Am i over thinking this or being irrational? Do I wait and see if he replies or do i just say this is obviously not working out? indecision

@xlaura2014x2 You are quite young I am assuming? I think you are overreacting a little bit. Love is a true feeling indeed, but when a person is young, it can be hard to interpret what the real meaning of it is. I doubt you want to drop everything and risk your life for this man? .. no? It is just the early romance feelings. After you get married, they die down a little bit, and reality sets in. So, I think whereever you are in life right now - school, career, etc - worry the outcome of that before a guy my dear. I was young and 20 yrs old once. I thought every guy I had a mini relationship with was my Prince Charming too. No! It was either party together, get drunk, and have sex or just call me when you're done partying and I've come over at 2 a.m. to have sex w/u. :( And I thought that was love? Ha! If you fancy this guy, cool! Does he have a job? School? Worry about your future first and your priorities as well. (I don't mean to sound like a parent, but I don't have any kids to lecture lol)

@xlaura2014x2 Well, it seems like he is having some serious issues right now and he might as well be stressed out a lot.

I would advise you to, of course, not forget about him, but start prioritising other things a bit more in your life until he comes back.

Take up something new like learning another language. Or watching a new series. Detach from the situation for a bit.

Only time will tell what was really going on. All you can do now is not be an extra stressor in his life and take care of yourself.

I'm sure by the time he comes back you'll be readier for whatever he is about to say this way. Much more cool headed too because you didn't waste time.

@xlaura2014x2 Think of the what ifs.

What if he really does have a pressing matter to attend to now and you're here expecting him to be there to validate you when he is barely managing.

Be confident and be proud of the fact that you will in fact be giving him support by putting trust in him for the time being. Unless proven otherwise.

It seems like youre being troubled because you think he doesn't value you enough to prioritise you (maybe you've had prior bad experiences or it's just a gut feeling), but you're bringing both your self-esteem and value down by reaching out constantly too.

I don't know what the point of writing this was to be honest. Just an analysis.

Maybe set a time due date for how long you'll wait for him and if he doesn't sort himself out by then then it was just not meant to be.
