i was with my boyfriend for just under a year when i started having doubts out of no where. ive been having really bad anxiety and depression for the past three months and thats when this started. at first, i wanted company to keep me distracted so he helped but i remember getting annoyed when he would be affectionate. ever since then i started making excuses so not see him and when i would see him we would just go for a walk so that i didnt have to spend much time with him. this was all happening during my exams and then i was busy with work. before this i wanted to see him every day and i was interested in his life. i thought that it might have been boredom because all we did was go shopping, watch netflix and have sex. but it continued. i am so confused because i dont know why this happened. it would be so much easier if something happened. i have been able to go see my friends but not him. is it because of quarantine ending and life going back to normal? we have been on a break for about a month now to let me figure out my thoughts. but i still havent. ive started missing his company recently, but not him. i also just found out that his sister has been telling people that she hates me etc. can anyone offer any advice please. i am in distress on what to do. he cares about me so much and i did and then all of a sudden i didnt.

Hey @Renek14

It does sound like you got together when you were feeling a bit lonely and during quarantine. He was something you wanted at that time, when you were feeling the way you were and in that stage of your life, but he doesn't fit into your life now.

You can't help your feelings and it is crueller to the guy to continue the relationship when you do not feel the same way as he does for you. Please don't feel guilty, this often happens. Things change, we enter different stages in our lives that just don't match with our partner and we grow out of love. I'm sure if you could flick a switch and be in love with him again, you would but it seems this is just one of those things that happens sometimes. :\

Hopefully you figure something out soon, I can only imagine how upsetting and confusing this is for you.

Hey @Renek14

Firstly I am so sorry that you have to go through depression and anxiety, especially during covid. I can only try to understand how hard it must have been for you.

So what I am gathering is that, he has filled up the gap the quarantine has created rather than just being your boyfriend. having to go the stress the covid brings on top of the work, exam stress must have really confused you even more about your relationship. it sounds like he really loves and cares about you as you said he tries to be affectionate. just maybe the way you don't want or are not ready for yet. maybe you can open up to him and be honest about how much he means to you? do you feel like you liked him more like a "distraction" and nothing serious? having an open conversation is key for any kind of relationship. i know it is hard and frustrating but I think you got this!
