i told him I really cared about him and then he went cold.
He won't fight for me or chase me.
i started to drift away from him and he didn't care. I texted less frequently.
i told him I was deleting social media for a week and he said "K". He really didn't care.
i reconnect with him and I'm cold and dismissive and short. I only reconnected because I loaned him money.
Now he loves me.

You're probably right.
Rejection is addictive. It's hard to leave him because my brain is lighting up like I've just done a line of coke.
that probably explains why he's only good to me when I'm bad to him.

It seems you've just been involved with someone who is a professional in a manipulative relationship. It's not wise to continue contacting him but you look like you already know what to do about it. I wish you a happier relationship.
